本日、VOCALOID鏡音リンの楽曲「炉心融解」初版（2008年12月20日）公開から丸17年となりました。きっと、どんな作品も完成した瞬間に終わるのではなく、誰かに受け取られた場所で、別の時間を生き始めるのだと思います。また、今年もさまざまな形で作品への愛を注いでくださった皆さま、本当にありがとうございます。これからも、名付けきれない「なにか」の傍らに寄り添える作品であり続けられますように。

Today marks the 17th anniversary of the original release of the VOCALOID Kagamine Rin song "Meltdown" on December 20, 2008. I believe that a work does not truly end at the moment it is completed. Rather, it begins to live another kind of time wherever it is received by someone. Once again this year, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has continued to pour their love into this piece in so many different forms. May it continue to remain a work that quietly stays beside that unnamed "something" within us.

「90年代風ルーズフィットジーンズの再流行を検証せよ」
最近、ルーズフィットのジーンズを履いている若者はジェンダーを問わず多い。UNITED ARROWS のサイトで、「リーバイス565 97 ルーズストレート ジーンズ 」が「90年代の大胆なスタイルに回帰した565ルーズ・ストレート」と紹介しているように、太いストレートジーンズが90年代に流行したとしばしば主張されている。果たしてこれは真実なのだろうか（写真1はリーバイス501と565の比較）
90年代はヴィンテージジーンズの値段が高騰し、若者には手が出せなくなってしまったこともあって1950〜60年代のアメリカ製ジーンズを製法・生地・縫製を踏襲したジーンズが色々なブランドから発売されていた。その年代のジーンズは確かに太いが、重要なのはそれだけではなく強いこだわりを持ってレプリカジーンズは作られていたためそれほど安くはなかった点である。加えてその丈夫さから「履き込み」をして色落ちさせるのが「当たり前」であって短期的な流行というよりも長期の着用を前提として若者が購入していた可能性が高い。なお、こうした復刻版のジーンズに関心を持っていたのはほぼ男性のみだった。90年代後半にはB系ファッションの流行もあり、そこでは確かに極端なバギーを腰履きするという文化が見られた。ただし、これは一部の若者が取り入れたファッションであって現在のように誰もが太いジーンズを着用する状況とは異なるし、太さも履き方も同じとは言えない。
以上の検証から、UNITED ARROWS の通販サイトに掲載されている「90年代の大胆なスタイルに回帰した565ルーズ・ストレート」という売り文句は事実ではなく、現在、若者が履いているルーズフィットジーンズはジェンダーの垣根を超えていることからも今日的な流行だと結論づけられる（写真2 若き日のイチロー）。

“Investigating the Revival of ‘1990s-Style’ Loose-Fit Jeans”
Recently, a growing number of young people—regardless of gender—have been wearing loose-fit jeans. For example, on the UNITED ARROWS online store, the Levi’s 565 97 Loose Straight Jeans are described as “a return to the bold style of the 1990s.” In this way, it is often claimed that wide straight-leg jeans were a major fashion trend during the 1990s. But is this actually true?

During the 1990s, the prices of vintage jeans rose sharply, putting them out of reach for many young consumers. As a result, many brands released reproduction jeans that closely followed the manufacturing methods, fabrics, and stitching of American jeans from the 1950s and 1960s. While these jeans were indeed wide by today’s standards, their significance cannot be reduced to their silhouette alone. Because they were produced with strong craftsmanship-oriented ideals, reproduction jeans were not particularly inexpensive. Moreover, due to their durability, it was considered “normal” to wear them repeatedly over a long period in order to achieve natural fading. Rather than being short-lived fashion items, they were typically purchased with long-term wear in mind.
It should also be noted that interest in these reproduction jeans was almost exclusively limited to men.
In the late 1990s, the rise of so-called B-boy fashion did introduce a culture of wearing extremely baggy jeans low on the waist. However, this was a style adopted by only a segment of young people, and it differs significantly from today’s situation, in which wide jeans are worn by a broad population. Neither the degree of looseness nor the manner of wearing them can be considered the same.
Based on this examination, the marketing phrase used on the UNITED ARROWS online store—“a return to the bold style of the 1990s”—cannot be regarded as fact. The loose-fit jeans worn by today’s youth represent a contemporary trend that transcends gender boundaries, rather than a simple revival of 1990s fashion.
