お嬢様はワイングラスを優雅に受け取り、執事の言葉を聞きながらふっと視線を窓辺に移した。
「ああ、そうか…久しぶりの晩餐会だね…楽しみだよ…」
その声には、期待の光が静かに灯り、部屋のキャンドルが彼女の黒いドレスに柔らかな影を落としていた。蜘蛛の巣が天井に張る中、執事は一礼し、
「お客様が屋敷にお越しになっています。そろそろ迎える準備をしてください」
と丁寧に促した。お嬢様はグラスをテーブルに置き、ゆっくり立ち上がり、鏡に向かって髪を整えた。久しぶりの客人を迎える喜びが、彼女の瞳に微かな輝きを加え、部屋の空気が少し重く、しかし心地よい緊張に満ちた。執事はそっとドアを開け、廊下から聞こえる足音が近づくのを待ち、私はこの夜がもたらす出会いの予感に、胸の奥で静かな波紋を感じた。お嬢様の存在は、屋敷の闇を優しく照らす灯火のように、晩餐会の始まりを予告していた。

The young lady gracefully accepted the wine glass, shifting her gaze to the window as she listened to the butler's words.
“Ah, I see... It's been a while since the last dinner party... I'm looking forward to it...”
Her voice carried a quiet spark of anticipation, with the room's candles casting soft shadows on her black dress. Amid the spiderwebs spanning the ceiling, the butler bowed and gently urged,
“My lady (the eldest daughter), the guests have arrived at the mansion. Please prepare to greet them soon.”
The young lady set the glass on the table, rose slowly, and began adjusting her hair in the mirror. The joy of welcoming long-absent guests added a subtle gleam to her eyes, filling the room with a heavy yet comfortable tension. The butler quietly opened the door, awaiting the approaching footsteps from the corridor, and I sensed a quiet ripple in my heart at the premonition of the encounters this night would bring. The young lady's presence, like a lamp softly illuminating the mansion's darkness, heralded the start of the dinner party.

僕は今年6月からロンドンで開催された展覧会の（会期中にも星４つのレビューをもらったけど）開催直前に載ったこの記事が好きです。オアシスのツアーを取り上げた記事が少し話題になったので、思い出して探してみました。The Guardianは好きな新聞です。この記事中で「労働者階級の両親の元で鍵っ子としてラジオから流れる洋楽に親しみ育つ・・・」ってとこがなんか安心する。
