Update regarding the scoring system.
1) You start Eclipse Mode with a 99-second timer that constantly ticks down.
Each time you clear a screen, your current timer value is converted into score so if you finish a screen with 95 seconds left, that’s 950 points added, and you continue the run with whatever time remains. (Getting hit reduces the timer by 10.)
2) Collectibles give +500 points, but there’s only one per screen, so going for it is always a small risk–reward choice.
3) And finally, there’s my shmup-inspired mechanic: Girigiri. (meaning “barely / on the edge”)
If you graze spikes or hazards, the timer briefly stops.
Playing “on the edge” can actually give you a higher score… if you don’t die trying.
