我不同意, 对不起.

I’ve learned Chinese / still learning Chinese because my kids’ mother has family on the mainland (and reinforce / talk with my kids in Mandarin). And I’ve been lucky enough to visit the mainland, speak with different generations, and get a feel.

It’s not that you’re wrong, it’s that you have an American way of thinking. It’s hard for us to even grasp the emotional trauma of generations of Chinese.

For the older folks, they still have Mao in their bedrooms. Though he sent them to starve in the fields. The loyalty was beaten into the populace. Which creates a divide between them and their children, which (using poor American analogy) is like boomers vs millennials on steroids.

The government, as a whole, wouldn’t risk it not out of societal collapse… but out of political jockeying. The blame game.

That said, and here’s the danger: CP, Dort, yourself probably can speak some Clausewitz. Some Jomini. Maybe even Sun Tzu.

Ask our direct counterparts, or say a line of Sun Tzu, and they can recite the chapter like the bible. That’s the biggest threat, those who think they know better and want to action. I really think, with 69% probability, that any war would start with a theater commander / subtheater commander thinking he knows better than Beijing, and that the initial Chinese push would seem haphazard in hindsight because all the surrounding commanders would then need to make decisions - go forth, hold back, or vacillate till Beijing makes the decision.

That said, my original twitter name is / was “Bun Dan Baba” - spelled purposefully wrong from 笨蛋 (my Ex would call me), and those who’ve seen Tropic Thunder will remember ‘Ben Dan Jack’, so I’m just an idiot… December 12, 2025
