まさにおっしゃる通りで、単に payments を digitize するだけなら、ブロックチェーンを使わなくても既存の銀行送金インフラで十分「デジタル化」されていますよね。だからこそ本質は、決済の前段階にある契約・貨物書類・物流データなどのレイヤーを統合し、そこから決済までを一気通貫でつなぐことだと感じています。
決済レイヤーだけをブロックチェーン化しても、その前段の「貨物書類・契約レイヤー」が紙のままでは、本当のDXにはなりません。ここが整うことで、XDCのようなTradeFiチェーン＋ISO20022コインの本領が発揮されるフェーズが来ます💎
今回の Electronic Negotiable Cargo Documents Convention は、まさにその“前段レイヤー”をグローバルに揃えるための一歩だと思っています。

I completely agree – if the goal is just to digitise payments, we actually don’t need blockchains at all. Existing banking rails already offer a fairly “digital” payment experience. The real value of DLT, in my view, is to integrate the upstream layers – contracts, cargo documents and logistics data – and connect them seamlessly all the way through to settlement.

Even if we only put the payment layer on-chain, as long as the documentary and contractual layer remains paper-based and siloed, we will never achieve genuine digital transformation in trade. Once that upstream layer is standardised and digitised, we finally enter a phase where TradeFi chains like XDC and ISO20022-aligned tokens can show their full potential💎

That’s why I see the new Electronic Negotiable Cargo Documents Convention as a crucial step towards harmonising this “preceding layer” at a global level. December 12, 2025
