最近ワールドを制作した友人とこの話題について議論した際、これらの制限は煩わしいものの、少なくとも部分的には必要だと感じました。実際、友人のためにアニメーションをテストしていた際に、これらの制限によって複数のサーバー関連の問題が発生し、その影響を直接体験しました。

さらに、私の理解では、これらの制限を回避できるのは VRChatの商用ライセンス を持つユーザーのみです。このライセンスは一般ユーザーに付与されることはほとんどなく、通常は既に事業として確立している商用企業に限定されています。

VRChatは、クライアント・ユーザー・サーバー間でデータを同期するために ティックレート／更新頻度システム に依存しています。

• ティックレートの例：同期されたオブジェクトはおよそ30〜5fps（約33〜200ms）の範囲で更新されます。正確なレートは送信されるデータの種類によって異なります。例えば、IKやアバターの動きは比較的高速に同期されますが、HMDのリフレッシュレートほどではありません。なお、実際の環境での更新速度は理論値よりも大幅に低いことを明記しておきます。

• 帯域幅の制限：Udonスクリプトには厳しい上限があり、継続的な同期では約11KB/s（シリアライズごとに200バイト）、手動同期では280KBが上限です。ちなみに、この11KB/sという数値は比較的寛大なもので、実際にはVRChatの公式ドキュメント（「Networking Specs & Tricks」）が示す値よりも低い性能を観測した例もあります。

データ同期における「5秒制限」について公式ドキュメントは存在しないようです。おそらくシリアライズ間隔に関連している可能性が高いですが、他の多くのネットワーク仕様と同様に未公開の挙動である可能性もあります。私の推測では、手動同期がボトルネックになっていると思われます。例えば30枚の画像を同時に読み込もうとすると、VRChatはレート制限をかけます。Request Serialisationを呼び出せる頻度には固定の上限があり、それが「5秒遅延」と認識される理由かもしれません。

この制限はサーバーコストを考えれば合理的です。これらの機能を利用する多くのワールドはVRChatに直接料金を支払う商用クライアントではないため、プラットフォーム側はリソースを管理するために厳しい制限を設けています。

ユーザーからの要望があったとしても、サーバーコストが非常に高額である以上、VRChatが単純に上限を引き上げる可能性は極めて低いと考えられます。

When discussing this topic with a friend who recently created a world, I think that these limits, while annoying, are at least partially necessary. I also experienced the impact first-hand while testing an animation for a friend, which ran into several server-related issues caused by these restrictions.

Additionally, from what I understand, the only users able to bypass these limits are those with a VRChat commercial license. These licenses are rarely granted to regular users and are typically reserved for established commercial businesses.

VRChat relies on a tick rate / update frequency system to synchronise data across clients, users, and servers.

• Tick Rate Example: Synced objects refresh anywhere between 30–5 fps (roughly 33–200 ms). The exact rate varies depending on the type of data being transmitted. For instance, IK and avatar movement are synced more quickly, though not at the same speed as HMD refresh rates. And just to be clear, the actual rate at which they refresh at in a real world environment is drastically lower.

• Bandwidth Limits: Udon scripts face strict caps approximately 11 KB/s for continuous sync (200 bytes per serialisation) and 280 KB for manual sync. It’s worth mentioning that the 11 KB/s figure is a fairly generous number two friends observed much lower performance than what VRChat’s documentation (“Networking Specs & Tricks”) suggests.

There appears to be no official documentation on a 5-second restriction for data synchronisation. It’s more than likely linked to serialisation intervals, though it may simply be undocumented like many other networking details in VRChat. My hunch is that manual synchronisation is the bottleneck. If 30 images attempt to load simultaneously, VRChat rate-limits them. There’s a fixed cap on how often Request Serialisation can be called, which may explain the perceived 5-second delay.

This limitation makes sense when considering server costs. Since most worlds using these features are not commercial clients paying VRChat directly, the platform enforces strict limits to manage resources.
