夜の客人3
ワイングラスを全て空けた長女は、軽く服を着替えながら優雅に執事の案内を受け、客を迎える準備のために準備場所へ足を運んだ。その後を影のように執事が上手に足音を合わせ、彼女が飲み終えたグラスを自然に手に取り、客名簿を持って彼女に付き従った。
「今日はみんなを満足させる夜になることを願うだけだよ…」
と独り言を呟きながら、彼女は悠然と歩みを進めた。屋敷の天井に張られたガラスに反射する月明かりが、彼女の孤高な姿を静かに照らし出し、蜘蛛の巣が織りなす幻想的な影がその輪郭をさらに際立たせていた。準備部屋に到着すると、執事は客名簿を手に持ったまま、静かにドアを閉めた。長女は鏡の前に立ち、新たなドレスに袖を通しながら、ふと窓の外を眺めた。遠くで馬車の音が聞こえ始め、客たちの到着が近づいている気配がした。
「楽しみだね…でも、期待が大きすぎるのも厄介かも…」
彼女の声は低く、どこか自嘲気味に響いた。執事は一礼し、
「お嬢様、すべてお任せください」
と静かに応じた。その瞬間、廊下からかすかな足音が近づき、ドアがそっとノックされた。長女は微笑みを浮かべ、執事に向かって軽く顎を振った。夜の幕が上がり、彼女の瞳に宿る光は、満足させるだけでなく、何かを試すような鋭さを含んでいた。月明かりが再び彼女を照らし、屋敷全体が静かな期待に包まれた。

Standing before the mirror, the young lady slipped into a new dress, her gaze drifting to the window. The faint sound of a carriage approached from afar, signaling the nearing arrival of the guests.
“I’m looking forward to it… though too much expectation might be troublesome…”
Her voice was low, tinged with a hint of self-mockery. The butler bowed and replied softly,
“My lady, leave everything to me.”
At that moment, a faint sound of footsteps echoed from the corridor, followed by a gentle knock on the door. The young lady smiled and gave a slight nod to the butler.
