【フィリピン スリガオ市へ寄贈】
倭国が自存自衛のために戦った大東亜戦争終結から80年となる本年、以前から願っていた現地への作品寄贈が叶いました。
ジャーナリストの井上和彦先生のご厚意によりフィリピン スリガオ市観光局の Roselyn Armida B. Merlin 氏とご縁を頂いたことで、この度の寄贈が実現しました。
(井上先生が10/25に現地のセレモニーに参列されるタイミングに合わせたかったのですが、台風の影響で配送が間に合わなかったというハプニングがありましたが)
作品｢抜錨 -西村艦隊 26041022-｣はMerlin氏の手でスリガオ市長に直接贈られ、近いうちにThe Battle of Surigao Museum に展示されるとのこと。大変光栄に思います。
微力ながら、現地における慰霊顕彰と、日比友好の一助になれば幸いです。

【Donation to Surigao City, Philippines】
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Greater East Asia War, in which Japan fought for its survival and self-defense. My long-held wish to donate artwork to the local community has finally been fulfilled.
This donation became possible thanks to the kindness of journalist Mr. Kazuhiko Inoue, who connected me with Ms. Roselyn Armida B. Merlin of the Surigao City Tourism Office in the Philippines.
(We had hoped to coordinate the timing with Mr. Inoue's attendance at the local ceremony on October 25th, but there was a hiccup where delivery was delayed due to a typhoon.)
The artwork "A Journey into Eternity -The Nishimura squadron 26041022-" was officially presented directly to the Mayor of Surigao City by Ms. Merlin and will be displayed at The Battle of Surigao Museum in the near future. I am deeply honored.
Though modest, I sincerely hope this contributes to memorializing and honoring the fallen locally, and to fostering Japan-Philippines friendship.
