＼展示のご紹介—Spotlight on the Exhibition／

国際芸術祭「あいち2025」参加アーティストのミルナ・バーミアさんの展示の様子をお届けします。
愛知芸術文化センター2階に作品を展示しています。

ミルナ・バーミアさんは、食べものを個人的かつ政治的な行為として捉えた二つの作品を、愛知芸術文化センター2階旧レストランのホールとキッチンの両方に展示しています。
ホールに展示した《サワー・コード》は、唐辛子やオクラなどを模した陶器を連ねて吊るし、古代から続く保存法「天日干し」を想起させる作品です。食材は薬効や繁栄の象徴で、子供の絵や護りの目が描かれています。巨大なニンニクにはパレスチナの詩人ダルウィーシュの詩句が刻まれています。
キッチンに展示した《ビター・シングス：オレンジの名のもとに》は、オレンジをめぐる物語を通じて、喪失や抵抗の記憶を探る作品です。陶器のジャッファ・オレンジが散在する粘土の風景は、パレスチナ農業の破壊を暗示しています。

We are excited to share the exhibition of Mirna Bamieh, a participating artist in Aichi Triennale 2025. Her works are on view on the 2nd floor of the Aichi Arts Center.
Mirna Bamieh presents two works that explore food as both a personal and political act, installed in the former restaurant’s hall and kitchen spaces within the Aichi Arts Center.
In the hall, “Sour Cords” features ceramic objects shaped like chili peppers, okra, and other ingredients strung together and suspended, recalling the ancient preservation method of sun-drying. These foods, symbols of healing and prosperity, are decorated with childlike drawings and protective eyes. A giant garlic bulb bears a verse by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
In the kitchen, “Bitter Things: In the name of an orange” delves into memories of loss and resistance through the story of oranges. Ceramic Jaffa oranges scattered across a clay landscape evoke the destruction of Palestinian agriculture.
