【AZXで行こう！】
明日から始まるイベント「TERMINUS TICKET」の舞台となるAZXについて解説します。
正式名称は「Ark Zero eXpress」。AZX運行以前はAFXという列車が使用されていましたが、エンターヘブンで発生した爆破テロにより喪失。この事件でソリンやディーゼルも巻き込まれ、ニケ化しています。AZXはそのAFXの後継車両としてエリシオンが製造しました。
AZXはアーク市民なら誰でも無料で乗車できます（ただし乗車券は必要）。無料である代わりに、車内ではエリシオンの広告が流れています。
■テロ対策
過去のテロ事件を教訓として、AZXには爆弾に使用される起爆信号パターンを無効化できる機能が搭載されています。さらに、緊急時には各車両に防火壁を展開して脅威を隔離し、被害を最小限に抑えることが可能です。
■地上用AZX
AZXはこれまでにCHAPTER13のヘレティック確保作戦、エヴァンゲリオンコラボイベントで二度の地上出撃がありました。この際に使用されたAZXは、アーク内で旅客を運ぶ通常車両とは異なる「地上用単独浮遊列車AZX」です。以前から地上戦用に製造されていた車両で、13章が初の実戦投入でした。
おそらく今回のイベントでも、この地上用AZXが使用されると考えられます。この車両にはガッデシアム鋼が30％使用されており、ロード級ラプチャーを轢いて破壊できるほど高い強度を備えています。
なお、地上への移動には乗り物用の大型エレベーターが使われます。
■アドマイアー号
同じくエリシオン製の軍艦「アドマイアー号」とは姉妹機の関係にあり、多くの共通部品が使用されています。突発イベントではブリッドとヘルムが互いの愛機のどちらが最強かを巡ってバトルを繰り広げました。
推進機関は、AZXが磁気浮遊システム、アドマイアー号が磁気推進システムと、どちらも磁気技術を主機としています。武装はAZXが実弾兵器、アドマイアー号はエネルギー兵器を搭載。海上で広域をカバーするアドマイアー号は防御力は高くない一方、地上でラプチャーと近接戦闘が発生するAZXは防御力に優れています。
速度はAZXのほうが上とされています。
■実は駅だけ
前哨基地には鉄道駅がありますが、この駅はアークとも地上とも接続されていません。現在は、駅だけが存在する状態です。将来、地上を奪還しAZXが地上ルートを走れるようになれば、地上・アーク・前哨基地が一本の線路で結ばれることになるでしょう。 December 12, 2025

英単語の練習、脳科学で最適なタイミングを探る

Studies in Second Language Acquisition (SSLA) 47巻4号 (Vol. 47, Issue 4) に論文が掲載されました。

私たちの新しい脳科学研究では、タスクにおける語彙練習のタイミングが学習と脳活動にどのような影響を与えるかを検証しました。その結果、タイミングによって全く異なる効果が得られることが明らかになりました。

タスク「前」に練習を行った場合、個人の語彙学習（記憶定着）が促進されることが確認されました。

一方で、タスク「後」に練習を行った場合、ペア間の「脳活動の同期 (brain-to-brain synchrony)」が高まることがわかりました。これは、事後の練習が対話者同士の認識を合わせ、より深い協働（collaboration）を促す可能性を示唆しています。

つまり、個人の知識定着を優先するのか、それとも対話の質や協働を重視するのか、教育的な目的に応じて練習のタイミングを使い分けることが重要であると提案しています。

本研究は、富山大学、東北大学、玉川大学、東京大学の脳科学の専門家の先生方との学際的な共同プロジェクトです。
